Once a year, a huge crowd of people gathers at the Jacob Javits center for one of East Coast’s biggest and most exciting popular culture conventions. Many of the attendees dress up in beautiful homemade handcrafted costumes. Taking countless hours and with an astonishing devotion and attention to detail.
This year I grabbed my camera and went to capture some of costumes. I had to get around a few obstacles. One was the crowded nature of the popular convention due to some tight quarters. I overcame this thankfully by taking some of the photos on the larger more opened area isles. The second hurdle you have to overcome is how you approach your subject. For me, I know that if you come dressed up to an event like this you expect to be asked a few (possibly hundreds) times for your photo to be taken.
